Degree/Area of Study: At CGCC, I earned an Associate of Arts degree
CHS Senior Marisa Shirley received her Associates of Arts degree from CGCC and is transferring 60 credits to ASU to study Biochemistry in her BS & MS 4+1 Program.
Where has life taken you since CGCC?: Life has taken me to grow into this independent person and take my education to the next level by attending Arizona State University and majoring in Biomedical Sciences
What is your ultimate career goal?: My ultimate career goal is to become a Dental Hygienist or a Pharmacist.
What makes your story unique?: What makes my story unique is that I accomplished finishing high school with my associate’s degree.
What campus resources did you utilize at CGCC?: Some resources I utilize are the library, the writing center, and going to my advisor with any questions I have
What extracurricular activities were you involved in?: In my extracurricular activities I was involved in was being on the Girl’s Basketball Team at Chandler High School and being a part of the Native American Club at Chandler High School.
What surprised you the most when you arrived at CGCC?: What surprised me the most when I arrived was that so many students were doing the same thing as me by still being in high school and getting their associate’s degree at the same time. Also, how there was a support system by teachers, advisors, and students helping you to achieve your goals.
How did CGCC faculty and staff support your success?: They supported me by keeping up with my academics and dropping by my class to check in with me about personal issues if I had any.
Why did you choose CGCC?:I chose CGCC because my older brother went there and graduated there and the opportunities it had by taking college classes while still being in high school.
What would you tell a prospective student considering their college choice?: I would recommend considering a college that fits their needs, academically and career wise. College prepares students for their future, which is why I chose CGCC since the program was perfectly suited to advance my career goals.
