Math Placement
Favorable Course Outcomes Begin with Using the Right Course Placement Guides and Tools
At CGCC student success is our number one priority and we believe that enrolling in the right course level for your degree path is more than just scores. It takes having a better understanding of the concepts you need to know before enrolling in a particular class and talking about it with an advisor. Skipping this important step could lead you to take a course that is either too advanced or too basic for you, ending in failure or withdrawal, and ultimately costing you additional time and money.
The guides and tools on this page are designed to help inform your math placement decisions.
FIRST, find the math course sequence for your degree path along with course placement minimums
SECOND, once you have identified the math course in the sequence for your degree path that is associated with your test scores, WATCH THE SHORT VIDEO CORRESPONDING TO THIS MATH CLASS. The video captures the key math concepts that you need to know before enrolling in this class. If after watching the mini- video you believe you would benefit from starting in a lower-level math course, consult with your advisor
