Andrew Yamashiro new head coach of the Women's Volleyball Program

Andrew has spent the last four years as the associate head coach at CGCC, where he helped secure an ACCAC championship in 2021 and trained four All-Americans: Jazmyn Tate, Jada Blake, Kennedy Dastrup, and Talli Copple. Notably, both Kennedy and Jazmyn were honored as ACCAC Players of the Year.

In addition to his role at CGCC, Andrew is involved in club coaching and serves as an assistant director for Aspire Volleyball Club. He has guided teams to numerous bids for the Girls Junior National Championship and has participated in multiple national championships at the club level. His experience in the recruiting process has aided many athletes in committing to their future colleges through his volleyball club, and he plans to leverage these relationships to benefit the players at CGCC.

Previously, Andrew served as an assistant coach for the men's volleyball program at Benedictine University Mesa under Ray Lewis from 2017 to 2020. During his tenure, he contributed to the Redhawks achieving a National Runner-Up finish in 2018 and a National Championship in 2019, as well as a #1 preseason ranking in 2020 before the season was cut short. While at Benedictine, he coached five All-Americans (Landon Fuller, Jesus Izaguirre, Jaron Jones, Bobby Henige, and Logan Adcock) and produced numerous All-Conference selections. In both 2018 and 2019, the team led the nation in blocking.

At the high school level, Andrew has been the head coach for boys' and girls' varsity teams at Mountain Pointe, Higley, Crismon, and Perry, with assistant coaching roles at Hamilton, Chandler, and Mesquite. Throughout his coaching career, he has mentored multiple All-State and All-Region selections, secured state championships in 2015 (Hamilton), 2018 (Higley), and 2021 (Hamilton), and achieved a runner-up finish in 2017 (Mountain Pointe).
