Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) is proud to announce the awarding of Maricopa's first-ever Microcredential Pathway (MCP) in Data Analytics. This innovative program, designed to provide students with the critical skills required for the data analytics profession, offers a unique combination of technical and durable skills.

The Data Analytics MCP consists of five technical microcredentials—Data Wrangling, Excel for Data Analytics, Python for Data Analytics, SQL for Data Analytics, and Data Visualization for Analytics—alongside two essential durable skills microcredentials—Critical Thinking and Creative Problem-Solving. These microcredentials are specifically designed to equip learners with the key competencies needed to succeed in today’s workforce.

Eleven students successfully completed the MCP, demonstrating proficiency and mastery of these vital skills. Each student was awarded digital open badges, which are verifiable by employers and can be showcased on platforms like LinkedIn and other social networks, allowing them to signal their expertise in real time.

Microcredential pathways, like the Data Analytics MCP, are designed with direct industry alignment and validation. These pathways offer a flexible "off-ramp" to employment and an "on-ramp" to further education, allowing students to continue their academic journey seamlessly. Learners who earn the Data Analytics MCP have the option to pursue an associate's or bachelor's degree in Data Analytics at Maricopa Community Colleges, providing them with a stackable credential path.

The development of this and other MCPs has been made possible through the support of the Education Design Lab and the Community College Growth Engine Fund, ensuring that these programs are responsive to industry demands and workforce needs.
