Suicide Prevention Training

Suicide Prevention Training

Suicide is a serious public health problem that can have long-lasting harmful effects on individuals, families, and communities.

While suicide affects people of all ages and walks of life, it is consistently among the leading causes of death for young adults.

The good news is that suicide is preventable, and EVERYONE can help! One way YOU can help is by becoming a “Gatekeeper”, that is someone who has been trained to recognize and refer someone at risk of suicide. CGCC is proud to offer a Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training to all currently enrolled students and employees.

Coyote Community of Care:
A Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training

At CGCC, we are committed to building a strong community of care and are proud to offer a training that was designed to help you help others. In the "Coyote Community of Care" Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training, you will learn how to:

  • Identify when someone is showing warning signs of suicide risk
  • Engage them in a supportive conversation, and
  • Connect them to professional support resources

Join the Coyote Community of Care and become a Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper. You might save a life!

1- Find a Scheduled Training

To accommodate as many Coyotes as possible, scheduled “Coyote Community of Care” Trainings are held on various days of the week, at different times. You will spend approximately two hours in an in-person, interactive group setting of approximately 6-16 peers of either students or employees (please select a training that corresponds to your role at CGC).

2- Request Group Training

If you already have a group of at least 6 individuals (such as a student organization or club, sports team, a CGC faculty led class), we will gladly organize a private training that fits the needs of your group.
